Dexamethasone and Long-Term Outcome in Adults with Bacterial Meningitis

Article Abstract
Treatment with adjunctive dexamethasone is not associated with an increased risk for long-term cognitive impairment. Adults who survive pneumococcal meningitis are at significant risk for long-term neuropsychological abnormalities.
